Bengal Chemical and Pharmaceutical Works Ltd. (BCPW) is the precursor of the present Society, Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (BCPL). Acharya PC Ray took a rented house in 91 upper circular road, Calcutta and started business with a meager capital of Rs 700.00. Since the inception of the company he was very aware of various quality products produced in the British Pharmacopoeia standard.
