Until 1962, the school was under the direct control of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. In 1963, the university administration was handed over to Delhi Administration. Delhi College of Engineering was under the administrative control of Department of Technical Education and Training, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. For academic purposes, the college was affiliated to the University of Delhi since 1952. Since July 2009, the DCE has become of Technology Delhi University of Delhi See Law 6 of 2009.
