The State of Chhattisgarh was formed and by the reorganization of Madhya Pradesh, 2000. The President of India gave his assent to this Act on 25 August 2000. The Government of India then set the first day of November 2000 as the day that would be the State of Madhya Pradesh was bifurcated in the State of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
