plant research was given a boost by setting AICRP in vegetable crops in 1971 at IARI,New Delhi with the responsibilities of coordination and monitoring of plant research programs in the country.
To give impetus to research and meet the challenges of nutrition security, the state of vegetable AICRP crop was raised to the level of Project Management Research of New Varieties of Plants (PDVR) for the year 1986 with its headquarters IARI in Delhi, New York. During 1992, the fourth seed was taken in Varanasi IARI New Delhi.
